Think Outside of the Book

Writing a book is a GREAT feat! Books not only change your lives but others lives as well. The best thing is after writing a book the opportunities don’t end there. You have to get creative and think outside the book because there are many ways authors can increase their impact and income

Let’s talk about those options:

Course

If you have written a nonfiction book never assume that royalties are the only way to make money! Most non-fiction books have a strategy, practical tips, or a technique to help your reader break free of something, make a transformation or shift, heal, grow, expand or reach their goals.

Think about it if you’re teaching someone how to recover their finances after being in debt can you give great strategies in your book why not turn that into a course where they have the extra level of support and also can go more in depth with you. The neat thing is you don’t even have to overthink the process you have so much content all you have to do is re-purpose and build on that contact and then it can become your signature course or signature service that you offer your audience.

Creating a Membership

You could create a monthly membership with lessons, workbooks calls etc. this is a great way to create a community around the content in your book.

I wrote an entire book Make Your Message Your Masterpiece and I used the same steps and I turned around and created a monthly membership (the plan to publish academy) that allows people that are writing their books to be able to have ongoing support and strategies that help them to be successful and less overwhelmed with the overall process. This has allowed my readers to go more in depth and really take the next step to accomplishing their goals. Honestly I think it’s a crime that more authors do not consider this.

Blog

As an author the good news is you have content from your book that you can grow and turn into a blog. The other good piece is that your readers will likely want to follow up with you. A blog is a great way to keep content going, keep your readers engaged and also consider selling content on your blog. If you’re looking for content for your blog you can always pull content from your book. The good news is since you have the content it won’t take a ton to get your blog started.

Business

Have you had a desire to expand your brand or start a business? Once you add author to your bio you automatically stand out! After writing a book you can launch a business. You could do this by speaking, coaching, consulting etc. Also note you can become a professional writer if that’s what you desire but that is not the only business option.

As you can tell the options are endless. As an author never box yourself in but instead choose to be creative and think outside of the book in new and awesome ways that you cannot only increase your income but also increase your impact at the same time
