Myths About Hypnosis

I absolutely adore hypnosis. I have been studying it for quite some time now and it has changed my life AND the lives of my clients. If you're new to hypnosis and a little skeptical I totally understand. That is exactly where I was as well. It wasn't until I experienced it myself that I became the biggest advocate for it.

In case you're not familiar with it-hypnosis is an induced state of consciousness where a therapist speaks directly to the subconscious mind and the client is highly responsive to suggestion or direction. It's a great strategy to push beyond a stuck state. Sadly, there is a stigma on what hypnosis is. Today I want to challenge the myths you have likely heard and share what hypnosis is NOT:

Myth #1- Mind Control.

As a certified hypnotherapist, hypnosis is a do with process not a do to process. Meaning we are doing hypnosis together. There is no such thing as mind control. When you see people walking around barking like a dog that is stage hypnosis NOT what I do. I take pride in being able to create massive shifts and breakthroughs for my clients and so my intentions are to align with what you desire in your life and help speak that straight to the subconscious mind.

Myth #2- Hypnosis is fake or doesn't work.

The truth is if you believe it doesn't work...it won't. If you desire the change and want it to work...it will. One thing I do before beginning a session is to see if you're open to hypnosis using what is called suggestibility tests. This helps me to see if you're really open to change. When the person is really ready for change the breakthrough is beautiful to watch. When you're already going in with negative beliefs the breakthrough is limited. The choice is one hundred percent up to you.

Myth #3- I won't hear anything that is happening during the session.

The reality is the therapist is speaking directly to your subconscious mind with positive suggestions and downloads. The best news is that our subconscious mind is responsible for 95% of our actions. This is why change happens on a deeper level- because your subconscious mind hears it. So when your subconscious mind hears these suggestions it goes to task for you. Meaning it starts to consider what needs to happen to get you to where you desire to be. Therefore the good news is that it doesn't matter what you consciously remember, your subconscious mind does remember it.

For me personally I would wait and wait for breakthroughs. I even would put in work to make them happen, but they always seemed far fetched or few and far in between. Hypnosis on the other hand gives you those shifts and they are immediate. This is what I love most about hypnosis and why I recommended it for all of my clients. It is literally the most life changing tool I use and it's amazing!
